Despite his very conservative views, State Senator O’Malley from Palos Park gained respect from voters and the press, who, while mostly not agreeing with him, acknowledged his principled stance on many issues and the up front manner in which he expressed them. He’s probably more of a true outsider than Wood will ever be. And unlike her, he doesn’t have to try hard at it. He expresses his thoughts on the current Republican leadership, especially on Governor Ryan, bluntly and harshly. Those who vote for him are choosing more of an ideology than anything and will be sending a moral message to Springfield that closely corresponds to a Christian Coalition platform. While O’Malley has advocated solutions for many political ideas, including restricting the growth of O’Hare airport and overturning Governor Ryan’s death-penalty moratorium, his main message has been that he has the integrity and moral fiber to regain the public’s confidence in the governor’s office.
