Oberweis Immigration Letter
Dear Jeremiah, Thanks for taking the time to enter the Oberweis Ice Cream for Life Sweepstakes. On your sweepstakes form you indicated that the most important issue to you was illegal immigration and I wanted to share with you my position. I’m the only candidate who’s taken a strong stance against illegal immigration and I’m leading the charge to find ways to fight violations of our immigration laws. As a result of illegal immigration we live in a society of increasingly threatened national security, higher crime, loss of jobs, competition for basic social services, divisive cultural and linguistic problems and longer waits and higher rates for healthcare. I’ll soon be coming out with a thorough proposal on how to deal with illegal immigration, but I can tell you now my policy will be based on putting the interest of the American people first, creating standards of fairness that do not punish those trying to enter our country legally and taking a realistic view of what our nation’s infrastructure can handle. I also oppose President Bush’s plan to provide a blanket amnesty to illegal aliens. This is not a call for intolerance; it’s a cry for common sense and fairness. Don’t just vote for me… join me in the fight against illegal immigration. Together we can find a common sense solution to this ongoing problem.
