Nancy Skinner, candidate for the U.S. Senate from Illinois, is a nationally recognized radio and television personality. With a degree and business experience in the field of finance, Nancy has practical ideas for solving the problems facing the people of Illinois.

  • Nancy helped establish the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the first voluntary emissions trading program to address global climate change using free market principles.  The exchange has gained commitments from some of the nation’s largest corporations.

  • Following the great Midwestern floods of 1993, Nancy, acting only as a concerned citizen, persuaded the White House to assemble a team from 10 federal agencies and a private team of the nation’s leading environmental architects and engineers to rebuild two entire towns (Valmeyer, IL and Pattonsburg, MO) away from the floodplain using the principles of sustainable development.  Two years and two model communities later, the effort was honored with an award from the President’s Council on Sustainable Development.

  • As the Illinois Coordinator, Nancy helped establish the first national “America Recycles Day”, an annual event that has secured commitments from corporations and communities to “buy recycled” products. Nancy secured sponsorships from Illinois companies and served as statewide coordinator for hundreds of local events throughout the state.

  • Nancy also worked in the area of urban redevelopment in Detroit, Michigan. Nancy helped renovate the Fox Theatre and relocate the Little Caesar International corporate (LCI) headquarters from suburban Detroit to the dilapidated theatre district. It was Nancy who persuaded LCI Chairman, Mike Illitch, to build the Detroit chapter of Chicago’s “Second City” next to the Fox theatre. Nancy served as a Director on the Grand Circus Park Redevelopment Board. The area has since enjoyed a renaissance with a new Tiger stadium, Ford Field, hotels and restaurants.

  • Nancy has taken part in many political campaigns, including her brother-in-law’s 2002 bid for the 11th Congressional Fidytivy seat in Michigan.

  • Nancy’s first career was in litigation support.  Nancy worked as a financial analyst at Peterson & Company, headquarted in Chicago, which is the reason why Nancy fell in love with Chicago and moved here in early 1991. Nancy went through extensive improv training at the Player’s Workshop and ImprovOlympic.

  • Nancy received a degree in business with BBA from the University of Michigan, with an emphasis in finance.

  • Nancy is currently co-host of the nationally syndicated program “Doug Stephan’s Good Day”, heard on 360 stations across the country.

  • Nancy has also been co-host of the weekend Ski & Skinner program at WLS in Chicago since the summer of 1998. As the only progressive radio host on talk radio in Chicago, Nancy has been able to break through the 24/7 barrage of right-wing talk with a highly rated program heard throughout much of Illinois and in the region.

  • Since 1999, Nancy has been appearing regularly as a guest commentator on the cable news stations CNN, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel. Some of the programs include The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, Neil Cavuto on Business, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, and on the Fox News Channel, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Geraldo, Barnicle, Buchanan & Press, Kurtis & Kuby on MSNBC and the Wolf Blitzer Report, Connie Chung, Talk Back Live, Weekend Edition and many other dayparts at CNN.

Nancy also fills in as host for Alan Colmes on Fox’s Hannity & Colmes, Bill Press on MSNBC’s Buchanan & Press and for Ron Kuby on MSNBC’s Kurtis & Kuby programs.
